Turkey 2002/3

Arrived in Turkey from Rhodes and checked in at Marmaris. Spent 2002/3 cruising up and down the coast from Fethiye to Kekova Roads. Lots to do and see.

Fethiye is a nice town and some strange boats. This must be the smallest yacht in the world. He sits in the saloon to row it. It seems to have everything but I would hate to live in it. I think it has been across the Atlantic

Walks to the ruined town of Lydia from Kapi Creek. Walking in the pine forests with speckled sun coming through is wonderful.

On the walk to Lydia you pass a farm and they always make you welcome and give you Farm tea which is made from wild sage which grows locally. I never mind taking this as it costs them nothing only a little work.

The farm would be a lovely for a house, although in a remote position. The views across the bays to Goçek and Fethiye are spectacular.

In some of the bays the local boats sell bread which they make on the spot. The thing about Turkey is it is one of the cleanest countries and you never have to worry about tummy bugs.

Other delights of Fethiye are with a lovely couple, John and Beatrix, who live in Kale and have a lovely house. They have a delightful holiday cottage they let. John runs a Croquet Club with a wonderful green lawn. They hold croquet evenings for which Bee does the most fantastic food.
